Learn Good Habits when it comes to saving your pictures |
| I’ve got to assumethat you know how to download / save your pictures from your camera to your computer. Your camera should of come with suitable software and instructions. My advice. Get into the habit of saving your pictures to where you can find them – simple as that. Not put every picture that you take into one folder called “My Pics” If you take pics of a product you think you might want to use on your website. Lets use the example of small bags. (Use your imagination to think of how this relates to you and your pics personally.i.e Wedding Anniversery 07 etc tc) So you know you are going to take 5 pics of your bags – armed with the digital camera you go outside in the bright sunlight and take your 5 pics. If it was me then I would go inside and download / save the 5 pics to my computer. I would save them in a Folder called bags-july-07. ( I have made these notes in July 07) I would create the new folder called bags-july-07 in the “my documents” path of my computer. If I knew it was going to be an ongoing situation I would create a folder called “bag-pics-for-web”. And inside that folder I would create a new folder called “bags-july-07” C Drive –> My Documents –> bag-pics-for-web –> bags-july-07 So when it comes time to take more pics – say in August I can create and call the next folder “bags-aug-07” and so on. That way I know when and where I took the pics and where I can find them EASILY on my computer. “no mad searching – where is that picture where did I save it – I know I did etc etc” I CONSIDER THIS TO BE VERY IMPORTANT FOR THE INEXPERIENCED “RESIZER OF PICTURES” SO IF YOU ARE INEXPERIENCED PLEASE TAKE THIS ONBOARD… I hope you follow what I meant by creating simple and easy to find folders to save your pics to – It is all about computer “good housekeeping”. But what I want you to do and get into the habit of doing if you are going to resize your pics or need to resize your pics is to create two additional folders inside your “bags-july-07” folder and call that one “original-pics” and one called “resized-pics”. C Drive –> My Documents –> bag-pics-for-web –> bags-july-07 –>original-pics You would Save your five pics into the “original-pics” folder. They are the pics you would download off your camera. |
